Community Services Block Grant

The Community Services Block Grant, also known as CSBG, consists of the Family Empowerment Action To Self-Sufficiency program (FEATS). FEATS is designed to reduce the number of low-income families living below the poverty guidelines. The strategy is to enable program participants to complete their education, develop skills that are marketable and become gainfully employed through the development of a comprehensive work plan. This plan results in a family contract/agreement.

The FEATS program is composed of seven staff members:

CSBG Director,                                   Mr. Frank Johnson,         683-8731, Ext. 262
FEATS Coordinator,                            Ms. Gwendolyn Green,   683-8731, Ext. 253
FEATS Administrative Assistant/PE,     Ms. Audrey Ferrell,        683-8731, Ext. 228
Case Managers:                                    Mrs. Mary F. Fox,         683-8731, Ext. 254
Ms. Jeanette Smith,        683-8731, Ext. 256
Mr. Walter Winborne,    683-8731, Ext. 261

To enroll in the FEATS program, participant must first be screened to see if they are eligible. Income and Social Security numbers must be submitted for family household members. Each participant is assigned to a case manager to assist with their goal plan and to map out strategies to accomplish their goals. Assistance is provided to alleviate barriers to self-sufficiency through workshops and close case manager interactions.
